Paris Couture Givenchy

Arguably the most interesting couture show for the spring 11 season came from Riccardo Tisci and his stunning interpretation of Japanese dress for Givenchy. Favourite thing I've seen this week
(other than the second episode of My Fat Gypsy Wedding).
For the full Drapers Couture report pick up an issue on February 4th.

Photography: Luke Stephenson Birds & Beards

Luke Stephenson's photography is some of the best portraiture I've seen in well...ever. His recent birds series is a glorious little selection of some of the best birds that Britain has to offer each conveying their own, weird little personality.

While his World Beard and Moustache Championship series serves up some super-cool, vaudevillian reportage, giving a humourous nod to beardy men everywhere.

Lontano

Lontano (Far) from TEST on Vimeo.

Lontano is the latest short fashion film directed and shot by Paolo Zerbini. The film depicts a fiery altercation between two lovers, who run the emotional gamut from anger to affection while dressed in beautiful creations by the likes of Holly Fulton and Stella McCartney.

Y-3 x Adidas

Y-3 and Adidas celebrated a decade of collaboration with a presentation in Paris yesterday.

In keeping with many of the menswear collections seen at Pitti Uomo, the Y-3 aw11 men’s collection played with the concept of escape and the great outdoors. The collection includes blazers, trench coats, parkas, and high boots in tones of army green.

As always the Japanese influence was felt, as bright Japanese prints, were employed on soft bomber jackets and button-down shirts, worn with knitted leggings or slouchy, sarouel-style sweatpants.

Models marched on an interactive treadmill installation, overlaid with film footage of open roads and expansive valleys to reinforce the idea of the great outdoors.

Simultaneously, Y-3 presented a screening of the Yohji Yamamoto documentary This Is My Dream and an exhibition of adidas for Yohji Yamamoto footwear, celebrating 10 years of collaboration.

Dunhill campaign

Alfred Dunhill SS 2011 Campaign

For its new Spring Summer 2011 campaign, Alfred Dunhill has banished models and replaced chiseled cheekbones with talented blokes - including journalist extraordinaire Sir David Frost.

The casting for the campaign paid no regard to age, look, status or trend – only 'personal achievement' according to the British brand.

The campaign is wonderfully simple – a series of black and white portraits with each subject dressed in a Dunhill outfit of their own choosing...does that mean stylists were banished too?
