København part 1

The Fashion Daily touched down in the outstanding city of Copenhagen (København) yesterday and has been in awe ever since. From teapots to tee shirts everything exudes quality.

The city maybe expensive but it's preoccupation with heart-made product gives everything a sense of refreshing provenance.

In next week's Drapers I'll be bringing you a round up of the best labels and trends from Copenhagen Fashion Week and the tradeshow Gallery, alongside a look at some of the cities coolest independent retailers.

For now here are some pictures from the city. Come back for some catwalk shots from the Wood Wood and Peter Jensen shows tomorrow.

Silly Bands

The Fashion Daily has been in possession of a few Silly Bands for a while and what with them going up in the Grazia magazine barometer it's only right we blog about this stringy shape shifting phenomena.

Laura was gifted her's by a trend setting friend, has a collection gathering up her arm, and is gutted she didn't move more quickly to set up a Silly Band UK distribution empire.

garcia madrid

Although Garcia Madrid didn't make the cut for the Drapers Margin report (in this week's issue) it still deserves a mention. Usually a young brand will nail tops and shirts before creating the perfect trouser or short. In contrast, Garcia Madrid is succeeding from the bottom-up and delivers a strong range of chinos in aubergine and brushed olive, some great pleat-fronted shorts, and sweet contrast boxers for SS11. The label's shirts are almost there, with the shirting offer saved by a heart print long-sleeved slim fit cotton shirt. However nylon new rave style hoodies weren't as UK appropriate.

Desirable Selfridges

Julien MacDonald

Department store Selfridges rarely fails to amaze with it's windows and this season's display is one of The Fashion Daily's all time favourites. They make a beautifully curated statement about the consumer return to simple statement dressing and the desire for iconic, investment pieces this AW10.

Chapel:Culte

A beautiful shoot in Lab magazine for Vancouver label Chapel: Culte and stylist Lelia Bani who dressed Florence Welch in this amazing construction.

A.Sauvage

The Fashion Daily is currently obssessed with new menswear label A.Sauvage. Adrien started out working at London premium indie Matches and launched premium tailoring label A.Sauvage for aw10 in partnership with TV presenter George Lamb - who has a stake in the business. Drapers was gutted to miss the launch of his photography exhibition at Matches last week (as we had our own event toasting 20 years of the Drapers Awards). But we heard good things, and we know there is more to come. We'll be featuring him, and the label in Drapers magazine soon, but for now have a look at his site.

One to Watch

Theresa Davies was the make-up artist on both of our Drapers womenswear s11 shoots, and did a stellar job. Even the coolest brands and product launches struggle to get a mention on anothermag.com but Theresa has caught their eye with her stunning Armour make-up.

Tally Ho!

The team at Barbour taught Laura (front row third from left) how to play polo earlier this month as a team of fashion journos took to the saddle. She came away with a bottle of champagne for coming last. Rumour has it there is a new Barbour collab in the pipeline, amazing news but The Fashion Daily wonders if it will be as good as the aw09 Tokihito Yoshida collab
